Construction and Development Details


     

  • Investment of an estimated $142 million to build Pinnacle Race Course, with an annual economic benefit to Michigan estimated at $1.5 billion.
  • Will provide jobs for 1,200 employees at the track, 1,100 temporary construction workers, 1,740 retail employees, and an estimated 20,000 “trickle-down” jobs.
  • To be completed in two phases: Phase I includes dirt track, a 12,000 sq. ft. corporate pavilion, an 8,000 sq. ft. covered patio, and 600-800 horse stalls. Phase II includes a three-story, 60,000 sq. ft. clubhouse – including private suites and boxes; a 4,000-seat grandstand; completion of all 1,200 horse stalls and ancillary facilities; and, a turf (grass) track.
  • Phase I construction will be completed for the opening of live racing on July 18, 2008.
  • Includes two individual race tracks, a one-mile dirt track (Phase I) and a 7/8-mile turf track (Phase II), created by world-renowned track designer Joseph H. King. King has been involved in the design and construction of many of the major new or rebuilt racing facilities in North America during the last 30 years, including Pimlico Race Course, Emerald Downs, and Indiana Downs.
  • Developed by Jerry Campbell, a successful banker and long-time thoroughbred horse owner, and his wife Felicia (Lisa) Campbell, a licensed horse trainer and owner of thoroughbred horses. They are the owners of Post-It Stables, Inc., based in Grass Lake, Michigan.
  • Granted a racing dates license on October 31, 2007 and a track meet license on March 19, 2008, by Michigan Racing Commissioner Christine White.
  • Other principals include Jack Krasula, president of Trustinus, LLC and Michael E. McInerney, investor and president of Post-It Stables, Inc.
  • Architect is Ghafari Associates, LLC. Construction manager is Roncelli Inc.
